Are you looking to improve on your results at the gym? You might be shooting yourself in the foot by making common diet mistakes which are having adverse effects on all your hard work at the gym.
Remember that bodybuilders are made in the kitchen not in the gym. Yes you need to go to the gym and workout, but if you are eating McDonald's 3 times a day you will not get great results. What you put in your mouth is just as important, if not more important than what you do in the gym.
Mistake # 1 – Eating too much – Overeating is a common problem for many individuals. It is a great way to put a halt to your muscle gains and getting lean.
What to do instead: The answer is not rocket science. Do not over eat. When you eat too much you are causing your digestive system to work harder than it should. It has to work harder because of the extra food in your system.
Mistake # 2 – Not Counting Calories -This happens all too often. You go through your day, eat your meals, snacks and have no idea how many calories you have consumed.
What to do instead: Count your calories. Like number one, this is no earth shattering revelation. Once you get into the habit of counting calories it becomes easier. When you count calories for the first time it might be a reality check, but with a few adjustments you will be eating the right amount of calories.
Mistake # 3 – Not eating enough carbs – There are low carb diets galore out there on the market. But the fact is you need carbs for your body to function properly. The main source of fuel for your brain is, you guessed it carbs. Be careful when it comes to low carb and restricted carb diets, they might actually affect your memory.
What to do instead: Eat a well balanced diet which includes carbs, protein, and fat. Man can not live on carbs alone. The main purpose of carbs is to provide the body with energy. But just eating carbs and not getting enough protein and fat will not cut it. A great time to eat carbs is after a workout to help your body to replenish lost nutrients.
Avoiding these common diet mistakes could have the difference between having a lean ripped body and having trouble getting the body you want. Do not neglect your nutrition so you can see great results at the gym.
